Pringles shoots for spider history
The Kellogg’s brand is bowled over by just how much the spider looks like Mr. P – the slanted hairline, the beady eyes and even that signature ‘stache – and said this phenomenon must be addressed to put this little-known eight-legged creature on the map.
It is calling on fans to make this happen by signing the petition to get the arachnid community to officially recognised the Kidney Garden Spider as the Pringles Spider.
If successful in making spider history, Pringles will reward fans with free snacks. The petition runs from 27 June to 31 October, and Pringles will award the first 1,500 eligible participants to sign the petition with swag.
Spread the eight-legged love
“In 1968, the world was introduced to the iconic Pringles can and logo, but little did we know there was a creature amongst us who was unknowingly spreading the Pringles love,” said Mauricio Jenkins, US marketing lead for Pringles.
“We’re thrilled to rally fans to help us recognise this spectacular spider, and welcome it into the Pringles family.”
The potato chip brand is pushing [cobweb] boundaries by letting fans ‘adopt’ their very own virtual Pringles Spider. Choose the ‘mate’ that speaks to you most - Dave, Zadie, Donna, Sampson, Buster or Tallulah - and Pringles will send you an official adoption certificate.
Follow @Pringles on all social media platforms for updates on the efforts to recognise this small, but mighty brand ambassador.
Only open to legal residents of the US.
