Pecan Deluxe injects $4.1m into factory to boost European growth
The £3m ($4.1m) refurbishment and expansion is due for completion in October and includes expanding the warehousing, logistics and manufacturing demands of the business, increasing production capacities in the chocolate moulding and bakery areas, and storage units and equipment.
Internal restructuring of the Sherburn-in-Elmet facility will improve the access between the production and storage units to reduce stock movement.
The new onsite frozen storage units will be powered by a dedicated substation.
Record turnover
According to Stephanie Cryer, director of finance and administration, the company posted a record turnover of £13.5m ($18.7m) in the last financials, having cemented its position as “a food tailor for any type of food company” across Europe.
She added the factory refurbishment and extension is expected to give the company a boost to reach its £15m ($20.8m) target in the next year.
“The investment will underpin our continued growth into the 2020s, and of course, create the opportunity for further investment to help provide customers across the world with their next product launches,” she said.
The UK arm of Pecan Deluxe was established in 1999 and is a fully-owned subsidiary of US based Pecan Deluxe Candy Company, a family-owned business founded in 1950.
The company manufactures cookie dough, flavored fudges, moulded chocolate shapes, brownie pieces, cake and biscuit chunks, and praline nuts for the bakery and confectionery industries – using only natural colors and flavorings – in its allergen controlled, BRC double A grade facilities.
