Twinkies join 100-calorie snack pack craze
Twinkies’ manufacturer Hostess has launched a 100-calorie snack pack of the popular American cake.
The packs will be called ‘Twinkie Bites’ and contain 50 calories fewer than regular Twinkies. Hostess also plans to add strawberry cupcakes to the 100-calorie snack pack range.
A wide variety of snacks are available in the US in 100-calorie portions, including crackers, biscuits, crisps and sweets. They have proved to be very popular with consumers: sales of the packs grew by 30 per cent last year.
