PFM launches new greengrocery wrapping solution

Italian company PFM has launched its Unibag wrapper system, developed for perishable and delicate food products.

The packaging is dedicated to the greengrocery sector and is a patented design for the vertical wrapping of soft delicate products such as small tomatoes, table grapes, cherries and fruit in general.

Using the Unibag design in conjunction with the Zenith vertical machine allows for the fast vertical wrapping of delicate food products without the risk of damage. The system prevents the product from falling freely into the wrapper - as has been the case with all systems until now - and carefully carries it throughout the entire filling and wrapping process.

Because this wrapping procedure takes place automatically, with no drops, bruising or shocks, it preserves the original appearance and freshness of the most delicate products, optimising their preservation period and quality. It also means an end to expensive hard wrappers produced with two or more types of wrapping material.

Unibag is a 'flow pack' wrapper, having three seals and a square base, which is taken off a reel of just one type of heat-seal wrapping material, such as laminated or bonded polypropylene.
