Sneak peek: NPD coming to China Candy & Snacks Expo 2016

Chinese confectionery trade body China Candy has unveiled some of the sweets and snacks products launching at the China Candy & Snacks Expo held in Ningbo this month.

Consumer trends including premiumization, functionality, and convenience-oriented packaging were shaping product development in the domestic market, said China Candy.

Natural bakery products had also started to gain ground as Chinese consumers become more health-conscious, it added.

China is among the six largest markets globally for packaged bakery products in terms of volume, according to Mintel, alongside the US, Russia, South Africa, UK, and Japan.
