The B Corp verification process - which was administered by the nonprofit B Lab - subjects a company to a rigorous review of the impact of its operations; its accountability to all stakeholders, not just shareholders - so workers, customers, communities and the environment; and in meeting the minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment of 80 or above.
Never settling, always striving
“Since day one, our company has stood for the greater good - never settling, always seeking and striving to change our food industry to have a positive impact for all,” said Kristy Lewis, founder and chief visionary officer of Quinn.
“It has been 13 years in the making, and I am thrilled for Quinn to join B Corporation and the many companies in raising our economic, social, and environmental standards.”
The mom of three founded Quinn in 2010 after years of obsessing over changing the food industry for the better.
From day one, the popcorn and pretzel producer has been committed to climate-friendly agriculture practices and ingredient transparency.
Quinn’s snacks are proof that when you care about where your ingredients come from and how they are grown, you can make food better, and its Ingredient Transparency policy allows consumers to trace each ingredient used it the snacks.
Additionally, Lewis is committed to breaking down the barriers between organic and conventional agriculture and determined to help reduce - and one day completely eradicate - the use of synthetics and chemicals. Quinn takes this commitment a step further by partnering with the sorghum, rice and sunflower (oil) farmers transitioning to regenerative agriculture practices that are key to soil health.
The brand is also known for its industry firsts - the first microwave popcorn in a Pure Pop Bag made of compostable paper and free of chemical or plastic coatings; the first whole grain and gluten-free pretzel; and the first gluten-free filled pretzel nuggets. Today, Quinn snacks are one of the fastest growing natural and specialty pretzel brands in the US, available in nearly 22,000 stores across channels.
Global movement
“It’s an honour to join a community of like-minded brands that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and responsible economy,” added Al Matulis, Quinn’s CEO.
“This was a true team effort and I’d like to thank our employees and partners for their support in helping us achieve this valuable milestone and for always pushing us to be and do better.”
