Kemtile, a division of global flooring concern Stonhard, will be installing around 8,000m2 of its unique floor tiling system, matching Brioche Pasquier’s precise pattern that was installed seven years ago.
According to the flooring specialist, the system is capable of withstanding tremendous thermal and mechanical stresses, as well as any chemical spillages, and requires very little maintenance besides regular cleaning.
French specialities for UK customers
Brioche Pasquier is a family business, founded in 1936, that specialises in traditional French bakery and patisserie. It employs almost 3,500 people across 18 sites (14 in France and 4 overseas, including the UK site) and posted an annual turnover of €710m in 2021.
Brioche Pasquier started construction on an 80,000 sq ft extension to its factory in Milton Keynes in September 2021, under the direction of Wilton Construction.
The extension will add another two lines for brioche rolls, opening around 130 jobs for the local community. Ryan Peters, Brioche Pasquier industrial director UK, said the addition will increase the plant’s capacity to turnover 2.5 million products every day.
“We have always wanted to provide our consumers with a fresh, quality product, which is why we originally decided to establish a bakery in the UK,” said Peters.
“Now we can extend the range of products that have been freshly baked in this country and transport them straight to market without delay.”
Still performing seven years on
Kemtile has also been tasked to install 200m2 of a heavy duty polyurethane resin floor screed, along with a unique drainage system in another part of the bakery.
“We continue to rely on Kemtile’s expertise to recommend the right tiling, resin and drainage solutions for our needs, which gives us fit for purpose flooring across all areas of our production site in the UK,” added Peters.
“We trust them to deliver every time.”
All of Kemtile’s systems are HACCP-approved.
“It is testament to the durability of our tiling systems – still performing and looking like new seven years on – that we get new opportunities to go back and deliver more of the same hard-wearing, hygienic flooring solutions,” said Kemtile UK sales manager David Priest.
“Our system is a proven performer, delivering longevity – and good looks – with minimal maintenance in a tough bakery environment. It has also been good to install a resin floor elsewhere on the site to meet different needs.”
