Gericke has launched the DIW-PE-GZD hygienic, a hybrid loss-in-weight tare compensation feeder for powder feeding in sanitary production environments.

The hygienic feeder features a flexible sleeves, filtration unit, and twin screws up to an Ra <= 0.8 μm for smooth, consistent feeding without risk of deposits or trapping ingredients.

Rene Meira Medina, executive VP, said DIW-PE-GZD is ideal for manufacturing foods where superior hygiene is required and it integrates with mixers, extruders, pneumatic conveyors, and other process equipment whether in batch, continuous, or in combination processes.

The hygienic feeder extends the company's line of tare compensation feeders to seven and customers can test the equipment at the company’s lab in New Jersey, US.

The Gericke story started more than 125 years ago in 1894 when Walter H. Gericke started a grinding company in Zurich, Switzerland focusing on serving the flour milling industry,” said Medina.

That industry saw dramatic growth at the time, and the need to incorporate automatic handling systems for bulk solids soon followed. This was a niche market that laid the groundwork for the Gericke Group today as it continues to grow in powder processing technology.”

The Gericke Group is still a family-owned company now run by Markus Gericke, the fourth generation of the family and it has international offices and manufacturing sites.

Corona virus

With over 125 years in business, we have seen many cycles and changes throughout the various industries we serve. The only constant is change, so we are always prepared for whatever changes come our way,” added Medina.

A major difficulty of a global business is making sure that customs and cultures are always understood and respected. Further, doing business globally brings about many challenges when dealing with different governments. We are always keeping an eye on regulatory standards, taxes, duties, exchange rates, etc.

“Of course, the corona virus affects all of our businesses. Thankfully, our equipment supports food, nutrition products and pharmaceutical production so we're in a position to help processors ramp up production and add automation. Another major factor is working with the many countries where we operate to navigate their individual regulatory and tax/trade laws, which we continually monitor.

We pride ourselves on the ability to create and supply technology for any powder processing application.
