ReGrained was set to launch its latest innovation at Natural products Expo West – scheduled to be held earlier this month – but this was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
ReGrained Puffs are powered by SuperGrain+, the company’s flagship upcycled product that is created using its patented process to transform spent brewers’ grain into a nutritious, versatile and functional ingredient.
ReGrained SuperGrain+ is a versatile, economical and environmentally impactful grain blend that performs flawlessly in all commercial applications, enabling food manufacturers to produce more nutritious and marketable foods, while contributing to sustainable practice and food waste mitigation.
The mission-driven company sells SuperGrain+ through business-to-business partnerships.
Better-for-you and better-for-the-planet
According to ReGrained, the Puff chips boast boosted nutrition, flavour and purpose as ‘the only better-for-the-planet brand’ in an exploding category of better-for-you salty snacks.
By deploying twin-screw extrusion, a blend of ReGrained SuperGrain+ and Non-GMO organic corn is expanded and dried, not fried. This results in a certified Made with Organic crunchy snack that contains only 100 calories per 39 piece serving, 0g saturated and trans fats, and a good source of fibre.
ReGrained Puffs are available in five chef-driven flavours, including Mexican Street Corn, Texas Pit BBQ, Aged Sharp Cheddar, Smoked Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper and Urban Garden, a take on a vegetable and herbs. Four of the five variants are vegan.
“Our puffs perfectly showcase ReGrained’s versatility and innovative spirit,” said Dan Kurzrock, CEO of ReGrained.
“Gram for gram, every laudable point of differentiation about this product plainly demonstrates ReGrained’s potential. In addition to being delicious, nutritious, fun and sustainable, our puffs also showcase a new angle of commercial viability for our co-development partners.”
ReGrained Puffs are available online today and will be hitting the shelves at grocers in the natural channel and alternative national retailers in the near future.
