The Chicago, Illinois-headquartered company has made numerous portfolio adjustments in recent years, including investments, divestitures and acquisitions. It recently expanded its already extensive operations in Brazil with the acquisition of Yerbalatina Phytoactives, a pioneering natural plant-based extracts and ingredients manufacturer.
Yerbalatina uses proprietary cool-drying technology to transform fruits, vegetables and plants like acerola, acai, guarana and green coffee into extracts and ingredients for use in food, beverages and health products
According to Vince Macciocchi, president of ADM’s Nutrition business, the global retail market for foods that support health & wellness is estimated at $750bn and growing.
“More and more consumers are turning to foods and supplements to help enhance health and wellness, and we are continuing to build a leadership position in that important market segment,” he said.
