Every three years, members of the global bakery industry gathers at one of the world’s most important trade events to discover the cutting-edge technology, machinery and knowhow that will streamline their production and set them apart.

This year’s event - sponsored by the American Bakers Association (ABA), the Baking Equipment Manufacturers and Allieds (BEMA) and the Retail Bakers of America (RBA) - is no less dazzling and the Las Vegas Convention Center will hum with activity from September 7-11, presenting a vast array of concepts to support each individual segment.

Mecatherm (booth 6437) will be showcasing a selection of equipment designed for the industrial baker at IBIE.

It will be unveiling a new flexible production line, which provides manufacturers the opportunity to supply a large range of products, produced using different process combinations with trays of varied types and formats.

It will also be demonstrating its new M-NS divider, designed to easily adapt production to meet changing market challenges.

The M-TA oven – launched at IBA 2018 and a winner of the IBA Innovation Award – will also be presented at the stand.

Dorner AquaPruf VBT Conveyor

Dorner (4559) is exhibiting several conveyor systems designed to make processing and packaging applications safer and more efficient.

The company claims its redesigned AquaGard 7350 V2 Series Conveyer is most advanced modular curve chain sanitary conveyor available on the market.

The modular belt curve conveyor has no openings greater than the international standard of 4mm, even within the curves, which increases safety by eliminating pinch points for operators. Added safety measures are also achieved by covering the upper and lower chain edges, and fully containing the drive system, which reduces catenary belt sag and conveyor noise.

The AquaPruf VBT (Vertical Belt Technology) Conveyor is a sanitary platform with an open-frame design for quick cleaning and more effective product changeover. Featuring a proprietary belt design, the equipment comes with a staggered sidewall belt that improves product release and allows for fast and effective sanitation.

For speedy baggers or pre-made pouch fillers with a smaller footprint, Matrix Packaging Machinery (booth 7267) will have a solution in action at IBIE.

The Morpheus continuous-motion vertical form fill seal bagger that fills up to 200 units per minute, and the compact Toyo Jidoki TT-8D-N pre-made pouch filler/sealer from Matrix are helping customers in the baking industry become more efficient and profitable every day.

The Matrix Morpheus is a continuous box-motion bagger that fills up to 200 units per minute.

It uses a high-speed jaw system that is unique from other vertical form fill seal machines, because the film never stops. The system cuts the film and provides just enough dwell time for the three bag seams to properly seal.

AutoPro eliminates manual adjustments such as hand cranks and thumb screws in favor of precision electronic motion control, cutting time by at least 50%.

Attendees will also see the Toyo Jidoki TT-8D-N pre-made pouch filler/sealer in action. The compact equipment has a small footprint but can be used for various pouch formats and product types, sealing up to 55 pouches per minute.

Reading Thermal Digital Humidity Sensor

Reading Thermal (booth 5521) – part of Reading Bakery Systems – has developed a Digital Humidity Sensor that uses proprietary Anti-Saturation Technology to increase accuracy in measuring humidity in ovens, proofers, dryers and cooling tunnels.

The new generation sensor produces data that is unaffected by combustion gases as it measures Dew Point Temperatures, Absolute Humidity and Relative Humidity.

The improved design precisely records measurements in very high dew point environments such as the steam injection used in bread ovens. The new capabilities maintain tight tolerances regardless of the oven platform. Additionally, it requires no preheating, increases dwell time and features two product probe inputs.

Bradman.jpg

Bradman Lake (booth 7729) is taking a fresh approach to packaging technology for the baking industry.

Its high speed, fully integrated BS420 Bread Slicer and the IBPRO Bread Bagger is space-saving and incorporates hardwearing components.

The all-in-one machine reduces downtime and product waste and incorporates an automatic slice thickness adjustment. The bread band slicer is capable of accurately slicing loaves of bread up to 70 packs per minute.

The IBPRO can be equipped with a half-loaf infeed and is capable of bagging both tinned sandwich bread and artisan style products.

Also on display will be a HS Mini Carton/Tray Former linked to a RA60 Right-angle Carton Closer, designed for limited floor space applications.

Its compact footprint is nearly half the size of traditional carton formers, yet it retains the same features found in the Bradman Lake HS Former design platform, including forming rates up to 60 cartons/trays per minute, quick changeover and an Allen-Bradley control platform.

The HS Mini can be tooled to erect different styles of lock and glue form cartons and trays, ranging from standard three flap to or front flap cartons to hooded lid cartons, as well as shelf ready display style cartons that include atypical shapes associated with seasonal products.

Camcorp (3330) is exhibiting for the first time at IBIE to showcase pneumatic conveying solutions for applications where automation of dry bulk ingredients is needed for high level repeatability and accuracy.

Additionally, experts will also be on hand to discuss solutions such as dust collection and demonstrate a stainless-steel filter receiver commonly found in bakery applications. Inside, attendees will see the bag and cartridge configurations and how the filter receiver is designed, installed and ready for operation.

The company will be showcasing a Sugar Convey System that prevents melting or clumping sugar that could potentially cause downstream concerns.
