Tetra Pak has partnered with HelloFresh to expand its Tetra Recart package in the US to the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.

Tetra Recart is a sustainable carton pack that offers an 80% lower carbon footprint and weight and space savings compared to tin cans and glass jars.

HelloFresh, which has been using the packaging in the US since 2017, will expand the carton to branded tomatoes, beans, chickpeas and lentils.

Jakob Schmidt, senior global procurement manager, HelloFresh Global, said introducing the Tetra Recart carton to its sustainable packaging portfolio is ‘a strategic move for HelloFresh’, helping it to reduce its carbon footprint through improved logistics.

Tetra Pak’s packaging enables HelloFresh to consistently deliver a quality product and a great opening experience for our customers," he added.

Peter Arvidsson, MD, Tetra Recart at Tetra Pak said it sees a huge growth in the meal kit category as consumers demand easier shopping experiences and services offering less planning, shorter cooking time, while maintaining the quality of the ingredients.

Fresh food

We are pleased to be able to help food producers capture this opportunity with a sustainable package that keeps food fresh and tasty,” said Arvidsson.

"HelloFresh has selected Tetra Recart packaging, this is the beginning of the journey in Europe with Tetra Pak. We hope that in future there will be more demand for sustainable packaging like Tetra Recart in European countries where we can support, however this is up to the consumer and market demand."
