Bühler has updated Turbo, which it launched in 2017, to launch Tubex Pro, to meet demand for digital connectivity and plant control.

Tubex Pro will be available in the second half of 2019 with retrofits offered to upgrade Tubex to Tubex Pro.

Yield management

With the next generation of measurement technology and self-monitoring, Tubex Pro reaches accuracy and precision levels that were unthinkable until recently,” said Stefan Birrer, head, Milling Solutions, Bühler.

Product recalls and contamination have made customers feel insecure. So, the need for food safety and traceability has dramatically increased

With digital applications, services and technologies such as blockchain, we can achieve breakthroughs and meet these challenges.”

According to Birrer, thanks to the upgrade, it is easier to integrate the scale into plant control systems, simpler to transfer data into cloud applications, and analyze and visualize data for better yield management.

The technology is operated via Bühler Insights IoT platform powered by Microsoft Azure.

Advanced connectivity

One example of its digital applications is Bühler Yield Management System, which works with Tubex Pro via Bühler Insights to increase production efficiency and yield.

Our Tubex scales are groundbreaking thanks to measuring and control algorithms, and connectivity features. With Tubex Pro, we have made the next step in advanced connectivity,” added Matt Kelly, MD, Digital Technologies, Bühler.

Bühler introduced Tubex two years’ ago, which could process three times more measurements than conventional scales thanks to its electro mechanical drive system.

Kelly said digital technology will revolutionize how mills and plants are run in the future.

So far, we have optimized components or subsystems. Now, with devices such as Tubex Pro, entire systems such as milling plants become transparent, comparable and can constantly be digitally optimized,” he added.

We can connect devices via plug and play to reach a new level of efficiency and food safety,” says Matt Kelly.
