The cereals are based on the classic Hostess treats, Donettes and Honey Bun, aka, the popular powdered mini donuts and cinnamon pastry rolls.
The Donettes cereal has been described as “puffier than a Cheerio” and “crunchier than the original Donettes, but with a similar powder that stays in your mouth,” while the Honey Bun cereal is noted to be similar to, but “sweeter than Cinnamon Toast Crunch.”
In a statement, the two companies described the cereals as ‘the perfect tiny’ additions to the breakfast table ‘for a sweet and satisfying start to the day,’ noting the cereals can be enjoyed with milk or straight from the box as a snack.
This is the first time Post and Hostess have teamed up, but it is not the first collaboration for Hostess, having teamed up with Nestlé to produce Snow Ball and Twinkie-flavored ice creams earlier this year.
The cereals will begin rolling out to 'select' US stores in late December, but will be available nationwide in January.
