JBT Corporation has acquired FTNON, in the Netherlands, for €32m ($37.1m).

The company, which operates in more than 60 countries, supplies technology for food processors including pre-cleaning, produce preparation and mixing systems, for the fresh produce, ready meal and pet food sectors.

Tom Giacomini, CEO, JBT, said the acquisition is expected to add annual revenue of approximately $30m to its FoodTech business, which already provides technology to the fresh produce sector, including labelling and cleaning systems.

FTNON provides us entry into the fresh cut equipment market, tapping the rapidly expanding demand for ready-to-eat fresh produce,” said Giacomini.

“It also brings robotic technology for cutting, coring and peeling fruits and vegetables – a valuable capability that reduces customers’ labor requirements.”

Giacomini added it now plans to expand FTNON’s global network and grow its aftermarket business.

JBT Corporation is a technology provider to the food & beverage industry with a focus on proteins, liquid foods and automated systems.
