The donut comes in two flavors: Glazed and Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles, and are both available in retailers across the US.
Hostess noted the launch of the jumbo donuts is a natural progression of Donettes, because the brand is the donuts category leader in the country.
“Jumbo Donettes features a new packaging format designed to maintain fresh portability. Six individually wrapped donuts are packaged in a resealable tub for an extra layer of freshness and easy storage,” it said.
The product also features a range of phrases designed to entertain consumers.
“Each one of the individual jumbo Donettes is wrapped with pop culture-infused quotes such as ‘This one’s mine,’ ‘Donuts: made round, so you can start anywhere,’ and ‘If loving donuts is wrong. I don’t want to be right’,” added Hostess.
Rob Kissick to lead Hostess’ co-manufacturing
In other news, Rob Kissick has been appointed Hostess’ senior VP of co-manufacturing, effective July 2, 2018.
Kissick has been Hostess’ senior VP of purchasing since September 2007, following a stint as the company’s commodity director.
“It has been very rewarding for me, especially the last five years, to be part of this great company with its wonderful brands,” he said. “I look forward to managing our co-manufacturing group as Hostess moves forward and grows more.”
Kissick is transitioning his purchasing-related responsibilities over to Steve Long, who became Hostess’ VP of purchasing in mid-May.
