Protein chocolate in cereal
High-protein cereals are gaining ‘significance,’ says Herza Chocolate
“Today’s retail trade is unthinkable without protein products,” said the Germany-based company. However, “very often the focus is on dairy, but high-protein cereals are gaining significance too.”
Herza’s new protein chocolate line includes a white chocolate enriched with milk protein and milk, and a dark chocolate with extra vegan protein.
The company said: “The chocolate pieces are also available as low-sugar variants. The protein content for each piece is between 20% to 25%.
“Small crispies, fruit pieces or fruit powder permit an additional taste experience, and they can be worked into the chocolate according to [cereal manufacturers’] wishes,” it added.
Various shapes for cereal applications
Herza noted its protein chocolate also comes in various shapes, such as leaves and chunks.
“The shapes depend on the application and particular customer requirements. Cereal manufacturers, for example, may enrich their protein muesli with high-protein chocolate leaves to specifically address athletes and health-conscious consumers who will not want to miss their chocolate muesli,” it said.
“Chunks, on the other hand, can be worked into bakery products or ice cream with no trouble at all because of special formulations,” added Herza. “They are also very easy to melt and to be used as a coating for bars, wafers or other protein-enriched confectionery.”
Herza, with its registered office located near Hamburg, is one of the largest suppliers of quality functional chocolate for further industrial processing.
