A multi-million-pound investment was made to develop a new central craft bakery in London.
According to Matthew Carr, client solutions director of Integrated Food Projects, the capital investment firm’s “work has led to the bakery now being able to support the ambitious expansion in the UK more efficiently and cost effectively.
“The bakery recognised it needs to partner with an experienced UK food sector specialist to ensure it could transfer the model successfully.
“We incorporated the bespoke equipment and processes used in Denmark whilst ensuring the facility was designed in line with the specific requirements of the new UK operation,” he said.
Ole & Steen was founded in 2008 by Ole Kristoffersen and Steen Skallebaek and today operates over 70 bakeries in Denmark.
It expanded operations to the UK in 2016 and now has eight stores across London. More locations are being planned for the UK.
The new central craft bakery in Park Royal is based on the company’s Danish model, supplying its network of London-based bakeries with fresh, premium artisan products more regularly throughout the day.
The new facility will also be open to the public, selling the fresh handmade pastry, cakes and breads for which the bakery group is known.
“Ole & Steen has proved to be hugely popular in the UK and as a result we’re delighted to be able to open more bakeries in London and, soon, outside the capital,” said Alastair Gordon, UK operations director for Ole & Steen.
“The team at Integrated Food Projects have been instrumental in ensuring that we had all the support needed to achieve our ambitions.”
