Lenny & Larry’s has added Choc-o-Mint and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chips to its line-up of protein cookies.

Choc-o-Mint has a rich, chocolatey cookie base studded with mint chips, while Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip is made with roasted peanuts, all-natural peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Both fresh-baked cookies contain 16g of plant-based proteins, 10g of fiber, are not artificially sweetened and made without GMO ingredients, soy or dairy.

Seasonally available Choc-o-Mint Complete Cookies are available in the original 4 oz. size, while Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Complete Cookies will be available year-round in both original 4 oz. and single serving 2 oz. sizes.

Both flavors are available online and through Vitamin Shoppe and GNC in the US for a SRP of $2.29 (4oz) and $1.29 (2oz).

Spring offerings

Tastykake is rolling out a trio of new limited-edition offerings for the spring.

  • The Strawberries & Creme Glazed Pie is made with real fruit, a glazed piecrust and a strawberries and creme-flavored pie filling.
  • The Lemon Mini Donuts feature a lemon-flavored cake donut dusted with a powdered sugar coating.
  • The Peach Cobbler Mini Donuts feature a donut coated in a crunchy layer of peach cobbler crumble.

All three products are available until June for a RRP of $1.79 each.

Snack brand Well&Truly has added a new flavor to its range along with a new look.

Smokey Paprika has joined the range of Really Cheesy and Sour Cream & Onion Crunchy Baked Corn Snacks and Loaded Salted Tortilla Chips, all which are lower in fat, gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians.

The brand has been given a new look by designed studio B&B to bring to life its feel-good personality. The bold, bright and flavor specific color combinations on a black background aid in greater stand out on shelf.

Available in 30g single serve bags and 100g sharing bags, online from Amazon and Ocado, as well as Booths, Sourced Market and Tesco and Wholefoods for a RRP of £0.99 ($1.36) for 30g bag of corn snacks, £2 ($2.75) for 100g bag of corn snacks and £1.99 ($2.73) for 125g bag of tortilla chips[JC1] ).

Nature's Own – owned by Flowers Foods – has launched Perfectly Crafted Thick Sliced Multigrain and Nature's Own Perfectly Crafted Thick Sliced White to the US market.

Available nationwide, the artisan-inspired, thick-sliced bakery style breads contain no artificial preservatives, color or flavors, no high fructose corn syrup, and are Non-GMO Project Verified.

They also have no trans-fat or cholesterol per serving, contain no high fructose corn syrup, and are low in fat[JC2] .

Be kind to your body

KIND Snacks has added to new flavors to its range of healthy snack bars.

Dark Chocolate Almond Mint and Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio to join Dark Chocolate Almond Mint and Pomegranate Blueberry, which have already secured listings in the UK in 227 Sainsbury's stores as well as Waitrose and BP stores at a RRP of £1.29 ($1.77) per bar[JC3] .

According to the company, each bar contains only 5g total sugar and this addition is over 40% less sugar than competitor snack bars, while the Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio variant is a UK first.

The new additions bring the range up to 10 bars, all gluten-free and high in fiber with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

A real handful

Nutritious snack brand Real Handful has unveiled two new flavors, along with new packaging design across its range of trail mixes.

The new additions – Mint Choc Chipper and Blackcurrant Blast – join the six other variants that will be rolling out nationwide in Holland & Barrett, Ocado and Welcome Break in May, followed by Sainsbury’s in July for a RRP of $1.00-$1.40.

The entire range – suitable for vegans – has received a 40% boost of nuts and seeds, while two of the mixes are now classified as a source of protein and several are now free from refined sugars.

Real Handful worked with design agency, Midday Studio, on the brand’s fun and ‘unruly’ new look, incorporating surreal character illustrations.

The full Real Handful product line up comprises Espress So & So, Blackcurrant Blast, Go Go Goji Berry, Blood Orange Burst, Mint Choc Chipper and Strawberry Stomp.

Planting the seed

Munchy Seeds has launched its new Salted Caramel Seed Mix in Waitrose stores across the UK.

The Mix – made up of roasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds with a pinch of coconut and a sprinkle of sea salt flakes –are suitable for vegans, are gluten free, dairy free and contain no artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives.

“The healthy snack sector is becoming increasingly competitive, so it's vital to tap into key trends and launch products that appeal to a broad range of consumers,” said Lucinda Clay, co-founder of Suffolk-based Munchy Seeds. “Seeds are a fantastic source of protein, vitamins, minerals and natural energy so they are perfect for today's increasingly health-conscious and clean eating snackers.”

The Salted Caramel Seeds are available in 120g tall pots for a RRP £2.49 and 25g handy snack packs for a RRP 70p from Waitrose.

Worth going crackers over

La Panzanella Artisanal Foods Co. – maker of Croccantini gourmet crackers – has introduced a line of Gluten-Free Oat Thins crackers.

Launching this summer, Oat Thins will come in three flavors – Toasted Oat, Rosemary and Roasted Garlic – in versatile, deli-friendly packaging for a suggested retail price of $4.99 for five ounces.

Made from whole oat flour that is Gluten-Free Certified and Non-GMO Project Verified, the crackers are low in sodium (130mg per serving), contain only 70 calories per serving, and are lactose- and cholesterol-free.

Seattle-area based La Panzanella will be exhibiting its new Gluten-Free Oat Thins at the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA) Expo in New Orleans in June, and at the Fancy Food Show in New York (June 20-July 2).

Chip off the old block

Cape Cod Potato Chips has reintroduced Cape Cod Russet Potato Chips more than 10 years after first appearing on shelves.

The chips – made from premium russet potatoes that are cooked in custom kettles to create a unique dark, golden potato chip with a hearty crunch – were first launched in 2007.

“We have a special place in our hearts for Cape Cod Russet Potato Chips and are proud to have them back as part of our family of kettle-cooked potato chips,” said Laura Merritt, VP of Marketing Cape Cod Potato Chips. “We still get dozens of calls a week asking where to find them. Russet is our number one fan requested chip, so bringing it back was a no-brainer.”

Cape Cod Russet Potato Chips are made using only three ingredients: russet potatoes, vegetable oil and salt. The chips contain no hydrogenated oils, are non-GMO and gluten-free and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
