Treofan to expand in the Americas and Turkey
It has installed a BOBST K5000 3650mm wide metallizer at its plant in Mexico and has partnered with packaging and labelling sales specialist Köylü in Turkey.
Barrier protection
Allan Crighton, COO, Americas, Treofan, said the K5000 is equipped to run large diameters at high speeds whilst maintaining the cool temperature of the film and protecting the barrier.
“The machine adds to the impressive number of BOBST wide web metallizers already sold and reinforces the trend in the market for film producers to produce wider and wider metallized film which results in high output and reductions in cost leading to higher productivity,” he said.
The purchase of the BOBST metallizer is in line with Treofan’s strategy to grow in the Americas and strengthen its position as a supplier of BOPP film in the region.
The company plans to invest heavily in the latest technology to modernize its manufacturing plants.
The BOBST metallizer in Mexico plant follows the installation of a 8.2m BOPP film line in 2007, also in Mexico, and more recently in October 2015, a 8.7m BOPP film line was installed in Germany.
Actega Terra
Köylü in Istanbul, and its partner Actega Terra, was one of the first companies to provide IML coatings to the Turkish market.
“Joining forces with Köylü is another step in the implementation of our growth strategy,” said Dr. Walter Bickel, CEO, Treofan.
“We’re systematically strengthening our presence in core markets so we can react more flexibly to local customers’ specific needs.
“We also expect the partnership to further stimulate our growth in the dynamic Turkish market.”
Mahmut Köylü, founder and CEO of Köylü, added collaborating with both Treofan and Actega Terra allows the company to respond to customers’ needs even more quickly and individually in future.
Treofan group employs around 1,100 people around the world at four production sites in Germany, Italy and Mexico. The company’s products are sold in more than 90 markets worldwide.
