French snack producer Vico launches Hula Hoops variants in Sonoco packaging
Hula Hoops, packed in rigid paper containers from Sonoco Europe, is the latest cooperation between Sonoco and Vico’s parent company Intersnack.
The two companies have collaborated for several years to introduce savory snacks in convenient, packaging to the European market.
Eye-catching appeal
The potato dough ring-shaped snacks were launched in France last year in three flavors, Original (salted), Cheese and Barbeque.
Headquartered in South Carolina, US, Sonoco has more than 300 operations in 33 countries – including more than 70 in Europe.
It specialises in a wide range of consumer and industrial packaging solutions, ranging from paperboard tubes to plastic packaging with a variety of closures, as well as packaging services and graphics.
The snacks are packaged in Sonoco’s 115 g rigid paper containers in vibrant colors that Vico claims stands out at point of sale (POS).
According to Séan Cairns, VP and GM of Sonoco Consumer Products Europe, high visibility is a key for the company’s rigid paper containers.
“Having a packaging that stands out on the shelf is crucial, especially when it comes to introducing a new product to the market and attracting impulse buyers – which is of the utmost importance on the highly competitive snack market,” he said.
The carton’s wraparound label shows stylized yellow Hula Hoops in motion, reflecting their intended use – that is, on-the-go consumption – while the red reclosable snap lid echoes Vico’s brand color.
According to Sonoco, they also conform to consumer’s demand for freshness and flavor with an aluminium lining.
