The products were developed to capitalize the growing demand for convenience.
Many consumers are more frequently choosing to eat breakfast on-the-go, while others like to snack on breakfast items purported perceived as healthier than snacks like chips and biscuits throughout the day.
Burke Raine, Hostess senior VP and chief marketing officer at the Kansas City-headquartered firm said: “The fresh take on our classic Donettes and Coffee Cakes will provide consumers with new options in a category that can be enjoyed all day long.”
Crunchy and buttery
The Donettes feature a crunchy cinnamon and sugar topping, while the Coffee Cake has an apple taste and is topped with a buttery, sugar crumb streusel.
The product launches closely follow other recent innovation from Hostess, including the expansion of its Twinkie brand into the frozen bakery category, seasonal sweet snacks like Pumpkin Spice Twinkies and indulgent addition Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cupcakes.
Hostess Brands’ latest products are available at retailers throughout the US, at a suggested retail price of $2.99 for a 270 g pack of Donettes and $3.99 for the 310 g box of Apple Coffee Cakes.
