Bosch to unveil bar packaging solutions at interpack 2017

Bosch is to roll out bar production technology for enhanced flexibility and shorter changeover times.

According to Josua Schwab, product manager at Bosch Packing Technology, “in order to live up to manufacturers’ growing demands for increased productivity, flexibility and quality, Bosch will be unveiling an advanced version of its bar production system at interpack 2017.” beyond the primary and secondary packaging.

Bosch claims what it terms its ‘intelligent’ Sigpack FIT product infeed (that features linear motor technology) allows for push-button format change, as well as a very fast, non-contact product feeding.

The system reaches a constant output of up to 1,500 bars per minute in primary packaging, with secondary packaging matching this high speed of the flow wrapper.

Reduced time

‘The cross-sealing station of the Sigpack HRM flow wrapper is based on high precision direct drive technology with film speeds of up to 150 meters per minute,’ adds the company that has a footprint in more than 15 countries worldwide.

“With the same setup, bars of varying sizes can be packed, reducing the time required for format change,” it says.

A highlight in secondary packaging is the new Sigpack PFI feeding module using linear motor technology.

To transfer the product from the flow wrapper into the Sigpack TTM topload cartoner, the new module gently turns and feeds the products into the grouping chain. It works smoothly at high speed without using vacuum, claims Bosch. The Sigpack TTM forms, loads and closes up to 150 cartons per minute.

All in one

The Bosch Group, with sales of €73.1bn (£77.55bn) in 2016, will also be showcasing the Bosch Contiline that encompasses the entire production process from mixing, slab forming, pre-cooling, lengthwise cutting and fanning out bars to crosswise cutting, coating and final cooling.

These and other technology solutions will be on view at the upcoming interpack 2017, which is being held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from May 4-10.
