Owned by food service giant Cara Operations, Swiss Chalet is a chain of dining-in and take-away restaurants best known for rotisserie chicken and its Signature Chalet Dipping Sauce.
Lay’s described Swiss Chalet's dipping sauce as having been a staple with Canadian families since 1954 and said it was this “fanatical love” of the sauce that inspired the businesses to create the “most Canadian chip ever”.
The chips are available in 255g bags and 40g bags from this month only at participating Swiss Chalet restaurants.
Natural brand extension
"Partnering with Lay's was a natural extension for our brand," said Lindsay Robinson, marketing director for Swiss Chalet at Cara Operations
"We pride ourselves on being Canadian, from our 62-year food print, to our product quality, story and heritage, and our ‘home away from home’ service. This uniquely Canadian potato chip was the perfect way to bring two iconic Canadian flavours to the masses in a new way."
Founded in 1883, Cara describes itself as Canada's oldest and largest full-service restaurant company.
The business franchises or operates restaurant brands including Swiss Chalet, Harvey's, Kelsey's, East Side Mario's, Montana's, Milestones, Prime Pubs, Bier Markt, New York Fries and Landing restaurants. It has 1,003 restaurants, 958 located in Canada and the remaining 45 located internationally.
