United Biscuits North America MD Francheterre to lead Tangerine Confectionery

United Biscuits Europe and North America managing director Anthony Francheterre has been named CEO of Tangerine Confectionery.

Francheterre is taking up the role at UK-based Tangerine – producer of private label confectionery and brands including Butterkist popcorn – with immediate effect.

He is replacing Benoit Testard - also a former United Biscuits executive – who passed away after a short illness earlier this year.

Francheterre joined United Biscuits in 1998 and rose quickly through the ranks, said Tangerine, taking charge of brands including BN and Delichoc as marketing director for the Northern European region.

Various managing director roles

He held managing director roles in France and Northern Europe before being appointed managing director of the European and North American regions.

Before joining United Biscuits, Francheterre worked within Nestlé’s dairy products business unit in sales and marketing roles across brands including Yoco and Flanby.

Tangerine describes itself as the leading manufacturer of private-label sugar confectionery in the UK as well as Butterkist, Wham, Sherbet Fountain, Dip Dabs and Henry Goode’s soft eating liquorice.

'Outstanding track record'

Francheterre has an “outstanding track record”, according to Tangerine chairman Steven Joseph.

I am confident he will be able to lead Tangerine through its next phase of growth and continue the exciting development of the Butterkist popcorn brand.”

Recent activity for Butterkist – the UK’s bestselling popcorn brand - has included the rollout of ‘Best Ever’ recipes across its ready-to-eat and microwave ranges.

Francheterre said he was “thrilled” will his new role.

As the leading independent UK manufacturer of sugar confectionery and branded popcorn, Tangerine has a very rich and proud heritage,” he added. “I am looking forward to working with the executive board and our whole staff to provide a strong platform for the growth of the business and the continued success of Tangerine’s brands.”
