The Original Cakerie ‘poised for growth’ after Gryphon take-over
The company recently won a 2015 Food and Beverage (FABI) Award for its Inspired by Happiness gluten-free two-layer Dreamin’cakes by The National Restaurant Association (NRA) as well as The Coca-Cola Company for its Coca-Cola Freestyle 7000 beverage dispenser and Heineken’s 100% recyclable draught system for Heineken Lager and Newcastle Brown Ale.
BRC Global Standard for Food Safety 'A grade'
It was also awarded the British Retailer Consortium’s (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety 'A grade' for its production facilities in Delta, British Columbia, Canada, and London, Ontario, recognized as a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) benchmarked food safety scheme, two year’s ago.
President and CEO Dave Hood will continue to head up the company following the acquisition.
He said Gryphon will bring significant resources to the company to expand and further accelerate its growth.
“Gryphon’s investment will provide our customers and employees with the opportunity to be associated with an exciting growth platform and enduring leader in the premium baked goods space,” he said.
Organic growth & strategic add-on acquisitions
“We welcome Gryphon’s partnership as we enter our next stage of growth.”
Among Gryphon’s previous investments in the food industry are Flagstone Foods, Trusthouse Services Group, and Eight O’Clock Coffee.
According to Keith Stimson, partner and head, Gryphon’s Consumer Group, consumers value affordable indulgence across economic cycles, and are increasingly searching for quality products and clean-label ingredients and in-store bakery sections of supermarkets and foodservice customers continue to look for high-quality dessert offerings.
“The Original Cakerie is poised for ongoing rapid growth as it continues to bring innovative, delicious dessert products to its retail and foodservice partners,”added Matt Farron, a principal Gryphon’s Consumer Group.
“We look forward to working with Dave Hood and his team to continue to drive The Original Cakerie’s growth both organically as well as through strategic add-on acquisitions.”
