May the spoons (not forks) be with you! General Mills to launch Star Wars cereal

Packs of General Mills' Star Wars cereal, featuring characters Yoda and Darth Vadar, will hit US shelves in June ahead of the launch of the latest film.

Minneapolis-based General Mills chose May the fourth (be with you) to announced the launch of its Star Wars cereal, which combines fruit-flavoured Yodas, Stormtroopers, R2D2s, light sabers, and space ships.

“The idea stemmed from our team’s despite to bring even more fun to the cereal aisle,” said Alan Cunningham, innovation marketing manager, General Mills. “Star Wars is as big as it gets and continues to thrive in appeal to fans young and old.”

“We’re thrilled about how great the cereal tastes and how fun it will be to be part of some of the Star Wars excitement.”

Limited edition packs featuring Yoda and Darth Vadar will hit shelves first in June. 

Another two pack designs will then be then be unveiled in October, and a further two in February 2016. 

Designs will evolve as each additional Star Wars movie is released.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, is schedule to hit screens in December this year.
