Reisopack: ‘European manufacturers have to convince US firms they can perform at the same level as their American rivals’

The world is becoming smaller and competition is increasing, according to Reisopack which counts Coca-Cola, Bimbo, PepsiCo, Nestlé and Kellogg's among its customers.

Pere Vilaró, marketing manager, Reisopack, told FoodProductionDaily the firm, which makes strapping machines for packing pallets and distributes packaging equipment, has customers in over 70 countries but it is not the only one selling worldwide.

To stand out from our competitors we develop custom projects tailored to our customers’ specific characteristics,” he said.

As marketing manager, the challenge is to communicate the benefits of pallet strapping to a sector which is used to working very differently. I am also concerned about being able to convince US companies that a European manufacturer can perform at the same level and speed as an American one.”

Vilaró said last year, the company exhibited at Asia Fruit Logistica, in Hong Kong, and it is looking at attending Gulfood exhibition this year or next.

We know these markets are very important and we want to increase our presence in them. Luckily for us almost every company has to have strapping pallets but new players enter the game all the time.”

Plans to improve its flagship product; 2904

We are currently specialized in fruits and vegetables but we want to offer technology to companies in other sectors. For this reason we have worked hard to increase the productive capacity of our strapping machines,” he said.

We enjoy a strong position in the sector of fruits and vegetables. It was time to seek new challenges. We had some major customers who asked us for specific and interesting challenges in the food and beverage sector. The performance of our strapping machines convinced us that we should go for this type of client.

We hope to provide companies of each sector with a strapping machine designed specifically for their production needs.”

Vilaró  said the improvements ‘mean fighting for another productive sector’.

This possibility is a motivation for all our employees. To reach the top we need to offer maximum performance and find rectify problems as they appear,” he added.
