Gnu Foods specializes in high-fiber snack bars made using a proprietary blend of soluble and insoluble fibers in the form of oats, wheat flour, wheat bran, Khorasan wheat, flax and millet as well as prebiotic inulin. Each bar contains 12 grams of fiber and contains between 130 and 160 calories.
As part of the acquisition, NuGo has revamped the brand with a different name ‘Fiber d’Lish’.
“After searching for the best fiber bar recipe, we realized it had already existed with FiberLove bars,” said NuGo Nutrition co-founder and CEO David Levine.
The fiber bars are baked and un-coate, unlike the rest of NuGo’s bars which are coated, including high-protein chocolate varieties and gluten-free trail mix bars.
Founder and CEO of Gnu Foods welcomed the buyout, saying it would stretch the products retail distribution significantly.
