Bicor 50 SuP 490 offers stiffness for stand-up display, transparency for visibility and moisture barrier, said the firm.
It also allows for downgauging1 compared to blown linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) or cast polypropylene (CPP) alternatives.
Puncture resistant pouch
The film combines the company’s sealant technology with a modified core to provide puncture resistance for stand-up pouches.
Bicor 50 SuP 490 is for applications including confectionery, snacks, powders and dry mixes and dried fruits and nuts.
It provides at least twice as much barrier as traditional blown LLDPE, LDPE or CPP sealants at comparable thickness, said Jindal.
“This provides manufacturers with the opportunity to downgauge the inside sealant web of the pouch while maintaining or improving product protection.
“Because there is less bulk for heat transfer when forming seals, the film allows faster filling speeds on packaging equipment.”
The film, on display at Emballage and launched during Interpack, was one of three products Jindal has introduced in 2014.
OPP film and film for labels
Metallyte MM688 orientated polypropylene (OPP) film is a metalized, surface printable monoweb product with a seal range and operating window for demanding high and variable speed horizontal form fill and seal (HFFS) packaging types.
It has a very low temperature seal (VLTS) coating on one side and a printable, oven-coated metallized surface on the other.
The film is for HFFS packaging of biscuits and baked goods, snack crackers, sweets and chocolate.
A lightweight orientated polyolefin (PO) film for pressure sensitive label (PSL) applications was the third product.
The Label-Lyte 52LLC247 is compatible with metalized inks, hot stamp and cold foil decoration.
Kevin Frydryk said the printable surface enables point-of-sale impact for products including beverages or bottled food.
“Brand owners can set apart their products and boost point-of-sale impact by choosing different shaped containers, knowing the end user can repeatedly squeeze them and the label will look like new.”
