The Conformité Européenne designation means Rinco Ultrasonics’ FPA ultrasonic pouch sealing systems means the machines now can be sold to a broader range of customers.
Positive sign
Gordon Hull, managing director for Rinco Ultrasonics, told FoodProductionDaily the CE mark is good news for the company, and its customers in the food packaging arena.
“Our recently acquired CE certification allows for us to immediately expand our sales into all of Europe, to service and support more OEM manufactures and end-users,” he said. “This, as well as recent patents awarded to Rinco, shows our customer base we are determined to advance technology for this emerging market, both domestically and abroad.”
Food packaging applications
The FPA machines are suitable for ultrasonic sealing of flexible pouches used on a broad range of products, including any foods, oils, greases, detergents, and sports drinks. According to Hull, the machines work with any heat-seal film currently on the market.
“Rinco is the first ultrasonic company to design and patent a direct drop-in ultrasonic replacement system to replace standard heat sealing stations,” Hull told FPD. “Our flexible packaging actuators, with an IP67 rating and robust design, allow for larger and wider seals than what has been available in the past.”
Hull added the FPA technology allows production of contour-shaped seals, whereas other ultrasonic units are only capable of straight-line seals. Further, the units use an interlocking pattern, reportedly creating a 20% stronger bond than conventional ultrasonic seals.
