Meredian gets FDA Food Substance Contact approval

Meredian, a privately held biopolymer manufacturer, has received a Food Substance Contact Notification approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The approval certifies certain biopolymers by Meredian are safe to use as food containers and storage for the general public.

Meredian manufactures PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate), and its MCL-PHA (medium-chain-length PHA) is approved for food substance contact.

The company claims it is now ready to move forward with the production of the pelletized raw material supply for manufacturing safe and biodegradable bioplastic containers, bottles, films and coatings.
