Hughes has been acquired by Blackthorne Partners and former machine-parts executive Ross Lund, now president/CEO of Hughes Equipment.
According to Lund, the company plans to work with current Hughes staff to expand its food processing technology business.
“We will help our customers become even more productive through investments in our people and in technology,” he said.
The manufacturer produces standard and customized equipment for the food processing environment. The machinery is designed for processing vegetables, pasta, rice, fruit, and root crops.
Staff investment
Lund said Hughes employees—“some of the best in the business”—have significant engineering and manufacturing, and the potential to design advanced food processing equipment.
“We intend to further develop that talent and to provide them with the best technology,” he said.
Room for growth
Hughes Equipment will remain in its 60,000-square-foot facility in Columbus, Wisconsin. The site is large enough to handle the business growth company leaders are anticipating, Lund said.
Founded in 1961, Hughes Equipment offers a variety of food processing equipment. Standard offerings include conveyors, fillers, cookers, coolers, cutters, washers, screens, and other machinery.
Along with opportunities for existing staff, Lund anticipates the need for additional employees as the growth plans unfold. Additionally, the manufacturer can build custom systems for food processing clients.
