OEE software troubleshoots product recalls

CSB-System International has developed a software program that plans, controls and monitors production and packing systems for overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

CSB linecontrol can identify potential bottlenecks or other stoppages on a line and any problems can be pinpointed to the exact machine for fast troubleshooting that minimises unplanned system shutdowns or downtime.

Incorrect labeling

The software also focuses on reducing rejects and the incorrect labeling of products.

Paul Griffin, new business development director, CSB-System International, told FoodProductionDaily.com linecontrol is an integrated ERP system for F&B manufacturers that can incorporate all or any elements from ERP, MES, warehousing and logistics, quality control, traceability and mobiles.

CSB go vertically from the top level of ERP right down through production into the machine control area, and horizontally from the customers suppliers right through to distribution,” said Griffin.

The worst thing that can happen in this industry is a product recall, which is expensive and damaging for a manufacturer, as well as the retailer, and can potentially lead to a business closing down.

CSB software has full traceability right from the beginning to the consumer pack and this is especially important for protein (meat, poultry and fish).”

CSB says its linecontrol system supports long-term multi-shift operations by integrating machinery to ensure a line operates at maximum efficiency and is not affected by changes in staff on duty.

CSB ecocontrol

It provides real-time information on capacity utilisation and the performance of individual machines. This data can be accessed on the production line or delivered remotely to a specific computer.

An optional component is CSB ecocontrol which can capture environmental information, such as energy consumption on the line.

Many food and beverage companies internationally have bought this software. From small to large manufacturers and processors,” added Griffin.

It is important for meat, poultry, bakery, and confectionery and it has been sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Poland, Russia, North America.”
