The 2014 Packaging Conference roster includes leaders from consumer packaged goods firms (CPGs) such as Kraft Foods, HJ Heinz, and Frito-Lay (a PepsiCo company). Leaders from suppliers like Tricor Braun, Hexacomb and Belvac also are lending input.
Coming together
The conference is presented by Plastic Technologies Inc. and SBA-CCI. John Maddox, SBA-CCI president, told FoodProductionDaily.com that bringing stakeholders from various parts of the supply chain is a good way to tackle common challenges.
“Providing a forum which helps facilitate dialog between supply chain participants is an important element in meeting packaging objectives,” he said.
Targeting sustainability
The 2014 event will feature a strong focus on environmental issues. H. J. Heinz’s vice president of global packaging innovation/execution Michael Okoroafor will kick off with a keynote on using sustainable packaging to create brand loyalty and conserve costs.
Suppliers also will be lending insight on sustainability-boosting practices and materials. Nathan Kemeling, director of business development for Avantium Chemicals BV, will outline the potential for bio-based packaging materials.
Also, Lee Ann Head, vice president of research for Shelton Group, will share lessons on how food companies can communicate sustainability messages to consumers.
Latin flavor
The program introduces content for food and packaging firms in Latin America, or those looking to break into the growing market. In one session, Hexacomb Corp.’s Darlene Kober, director of global marketing and strategy, will discuss an example of how a liquid packaging supplier streamlined shipment via the use of paper pads.
The 2014 Packaging Conference is scheduled February 3-5 in Orlando, Florida. Early-bird discounted registration is available until January 15.
