Cargill tackles $10.6m food facility expansion

Cargill’s Kitchen Solutions division has broken ground on a 22,500-sq.-ft. expansion at one of its processing facilities.

The company is bolstering its Lake Odessa, Michigan, plant with increased cooler and freezer storage space. The firm broke ground on the expansion this week; construction reportedly will wrap up by midsummer 2014.

Troy Peper, plant manager for the facility, said the expansion was made possible by a partnership with local economic development agencies Lake Odessa Economic Alliance and The Right Place.

These public-private partnerships demonstrate what can be done when we all work together,” he said.

The facility, first opened in 1994, focuses on processed egg products. It has been expanded several times since opening shop, due to increasing demand.

Cargill Kitchen Solutions has plants in Mason City, Iowa; Monticello and Big Lake, Minn.; and Etobicoke, Ontario. The division’s headquarters are situated in Monticello.
