A blaze set in a dumpster at a Sonoco recycling facility caused damages to the tune of $35,000.

Police determined the culprit lit the fire in a dumpster; investigators found a gas can near the bin. Flames jumped to a nearby bundle of cardboard, then spread from there.

The Sonoco recycling facility, located in North Carolina, is one of several such facilities the company runs across the US. In addition to collecting and processing manufacturing and residential recyclables, personnel also offer consulting to help food companies and other clients up their sustainability profile.
