The company, which has been in operation for 16 years, counts Disney World, Aldi grocery store and World Market, among its clients.
Levent Uzkan, founder, Flavor Shakes, Texas, US, told FoodProductionDaily it decided to patent its own design of plastic containers to reduce cycle times and maintenance.
Patent design
Uzkan also attended Pack Expo in Las Vegas to meet with manufacturers who could make its product.
“We think the patent design is better for sprinkles, sugars, shapes and spices because each container now fits inside the other so it doesn’t take any room when it’s being shipped and it’s stackable,” he said.
“Once you fill it, you can snap the top to the bottom very easily. You can reuse it and it won’t lose its rigidity or elasticity. It also has a flow controllable triangle outlet. “
Uzkan added, prior to the patent, the company was making compartmental jars which were hard to fill, and it wanted to come up with a cost effective product with the same quality ingredients.

“We thought we would lessen the cost of the container rather than the ingredients and came up with this idea,” he said.
Flavor Shakes has sold more than 600,000 of the plastic containers in Europe so far.
Larger jars
Next, it plans to make a larger compartmental jar that it can fill much easier with sugar spice sprinkles and is looking for machinery to produce that.
The current containers come in sizes which range from three to five ounces. The same cap fits for both even though they are different heights.
The company employs 12 people and one of its brands is Minnie’s bake shop sprinkles, distributed by Disney Theme park Merchandise, Walt Disney World.
