CKF makes molded pulp and foam products for retail consumers, food service operators and the packaging industry.
Ian Anderson, president, CKF, said the acquisition means the company can launch a line of sustainable products which are renewable, recyclable, and compostable to its existing and new customers.
Role change
The Earthcycle brand will continue to work with the agriculture and produce industries and its founder and CEO, Shannon Boase, has been appointed as director of New Market Development, CKF.
Boase said it was always her intention to align the company with a larger player in the industry to leverage its scale and expertise in distribution and sales.
“CKF is a natural fit for Earthcycle due to its locations, material expertise, and strategic growth goals,” she said.
Palm fiber usage
Prior to Earthcycle’s start-up in 2005, Boase worked with the Malaysian Government from May 2002 to July 2004, helping to bring palm fiber usage to market.
The acquisition will strengthen CKF product offering while providing opportunities to access new markets with an expanded portfolio of sustainable packaging products.
Earthcycle won the Social Venture Network (SVN) innovation award in 2009 and DuPont’s Packaging Innovation title alongside Innovia Films, for its Natureflex Organic Kiwi Pack in 2008.
