Ishida sticky meat Roto-Batcher delivers 55 trays/minute

Ishida Europe has launched a screw feeder weigher for sticky, difficult-to-handle fresh products.

The Roto-Batcher has been developed for meat and poultry products which cannot be easily moved by feeder vibration, or for when manual product feeding is not economically viable.

Using eight operators, the system can deliver speeds of 55 trays per minute with an average giveaway of 1%.

Reduces labor by 60%

Ishida claims the machine can reduce labor by up to 60% compared with a manual operation.

The company also plans to organise a Food Safety and Quality Control Event from October 21 to November 6, at its UK headquarters in Woodgate, Birmingham.

It will demonstrate two X-ray models, the IX-GE-B3034 which can detect contaminants within products packed in PET bottles, tetra packs, carton brick packs and pouches, and the IX-G2, designed for bone detection.

Product quality competition

Jim Bedford, product manager for X-ray inspection systems, Ishida Europe said with fierce competition across all sectors of the food industry, ensuring the highest standards of product quality is essential to maintain brand image and loyalty, and secure retail shelf space.

Equally, a product recall for any sort of quality or contamination problem can be extremely damaging in terms of loss of consumer confidence and reputation but the financial implications – including heavy retailer fines – are immense.

For these reasons it is vital companies take a pro-active approach to quality control to put the systems in place to ensure any potential quality or safety issues are swiftly identified and dealt with before goods leave the factory,” he said.

Its X-ray models can detect a variety of contaminants including metal, glass, bones, shells, stones, hard rubber and plastic down to 0.3mm in size, and can be used for other quality control operations such as product grading by length, presence of clips, voids in product, product deformation, missing or damaged pieces, and fill-level control.
