Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery, a subsidiary of Demag Plastics Group in Schwaig, Germany, has launched a Systec SP (Speed Performance) 280, which can manufacture 1.2L polypropylene buckets (84g) in 5.3 seconds.

The machine, which has a clamping force of 2,800kN, is designed for injection molded packaging, for applications such as latches, lids, buckets and stacking boxes.

Nigel Flowers, MD, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag said the Systec SP has been fine-tuned to improve product quality and lower energy consumption.

For high volume packaging manufacturers, these enhancements give the flexibility in capacity to meet future growth demands,” he said.

Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) recently announced it was investing $9m in expanding its production capacity with 650 to 1,000 injection moulding machines in China.

It currently produces the Systec C machine series in Ningbo with a clamping force from 500 to 10,000 kN.

In future, further machine series from the Sumitomo (SHI) Demag range will be made in the country and it plans to increase its export ratio by 25%.
