An advice organization is launching a service to help processing firms and retailers put better information on the front of packaging.

Food Chain Europe, a UK-based outfit, is offering a label-check service to assist companies in putting optimal food labelling information on their products. This service is in additional to its current label verification offerings.

The voluntary UK Front of Pack Nutrition Labelling Scheme, launched in June, is intended help food companies deliver more concise, easy-to-understand information on their products’ nutritional value. The goal is to present consumers with clearer information on the energy, fat, sugar and salt levels of edible items.

Food Chain Europe’s consultancy services director Stuart Shotton said, “We understand how stressful it can be for food businesses to ensure they comply with labelling legislation which is why we offer our label health check to ensure compliance.”
