The latest introduction to Mettler-Toledo’s line of weigh modules, the SWB505 is designed to offer durability, accuracy and safety. It also is easy to install and durable, according to the manufacturer.
Safety first
The module’s safety features include SafeLock, which guards against accidental overload, and is designed to ensure proper mounting alignment. It also protects against shock loads and keeps the module aligned during transport and installation.
“The main reason why safety is important with weigh modules is because they typically serve as the main support beams for large structures such as tanks, silos, or conveyors,” Mettler-Toledo’s Jeff Capella told FoodProductionDaily.com.
To eliminate the risk of damage, the MultiMount can be installed without the load cell present. The load cell then can be placed right before calibration.
Versatile weighing
The MultiMount weigh modules are suited for a range of applications, including tank weighing and dynamic loading on conveyors, mixers and blenders. The units reportedly perform even in environments with vibration or in-motion weighing.
A standard lift-off screw absorbs tipping forces; a vertical down stop provides added safety. Further, the module’s rocker-style load pin reportedly restores the top plate to its ideal position to maintain accurate, repeatable weight.
Innovative features
According to Capella, the rocker-style load pin is an especially innovative feature of the module.
“The rocker-pin suspension of the MultiMount provides best in-class accuracy,” he said. “This feature could add consistency to a food processer's batching application, which will lead to a decrease in the number of bad batches or potential overfill of material when filling into a tank.”
The module’s analog-quality, legal-for-trade load cells have a rocker-pin design that automatically aligns load forces. Hermetically sealed, they come in three different types of steel for use in harsh environments.
