General Mills has issued a voluntary recall on its Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal over concerns the product may contain salmonella.

The recall impacts a “small quantity” of single-serve reduced-sugar Cinnamon Toast Crunch bowlpack sold in foodservice establishments, General Mills said.

“This action is being taken as a precaution because the company was notified by an ingredient supplier that it had recalled an ingredient due to the possible presence of salmonella,” it continued.

The cereal giant said not illnesses have been associated with this finding and that no other varieties or sizes of the cereal product are involved.

The recall affects around 168 cases with ‘Better if Used By’ dates of 31 Aug 2013 and 02 Sep 2013.
