DeltaTRAK, based in Pleasanton, CA, recently landed Best New Food Safety Product Finalist honors at the United Fresh 2013 food industry event in San Diego. TheThermoTrace TTI (time/temperature indicator) can be used by food manufacturers and other companies with temperature-sensitive and perishable products to ensure a shipment stays within acceptable parameters as it travels throughout the supply chain.

The technology

According to Frederick Wu, president and CEO of DeltaTRAK, the ThermoTrace TTI solution can help food processing firms effectively and cost-efficiently collect and store temperature information, and data required by the Produce Traceability Initiative.

The system works with standard barcode reader technology, which reportedly makes it easy to integrate into the customer’s environment and procedures. The cold-chain solution includes the ThermoTrace TTI labels and the ThermoTrace TTI service. Once a barcode is scanned, a predefined product quality message appears on the screen of the reader.

Custom collecting

Further, users can customize the information via the TTI service, making it possible to present the precise information needed. Each scan is saved to the cloud-based TTI service, which can provide email notifications, text messaging and reporting.
