Tromp is a global supplier of baking equipment and is based in Gorinchem, The Netherlands. The business produces sheeting lines for bread, pizza and pastry.
AMF Bakery, headquartered in Virginia, US, has purchased Tromp for an undisclosed sum.
Leveraging position
Ken Newsome, president of AMF, said: "This strategic addition enables us to leverage our position as a global leader in high-speed bread and bun bakery systems and expand our offering into the growing specialty bakery sector."
Bas Tromp, founder of Tromp, will remain as the company’s president. "As I thought about the future of my company, I wanted to find a partner with similar values who would continue to build on our previous accomplishments.”
“AMF, with its affiliation with Markel, is very unique, and I think this organization will best serve our customers and the people who helped build this company," he said.
AMF’s operations
AMF has manufacturing plants in Richmond, VA; Atlanta, GA; Sherbrooke, Canada; and Tianjin, China with sales offices in Leeds, UK; Singapore and Beijing.
The Marktel subsidiary is affiliated with other bakery equipment businesses in the US, including BakeTech, Shick, Intergrated Packaging Machinery (IPM) and AMF Automation.
The Tromp acquisition comes soon after AMF Bakery Systems completed the undisclosed acquisition of Baking Technology Systems (Bake Tech) in September last year. Bake Tech is a US-based supplier of ovens and other related equipment to high speed bread and bun bakeries.
