Sealing machine cuts costs and boosts output, says Multivac

A new sealing machine can cut running costs and increase machine output for food manufacturers, according to Multivac.

Sealing of trays for fruit, vegetable packs and ready meals is achieved by the new single lane T 700 traysealer through the use of an electric die lifting unit, said the supplier.

The firm claims the die technology is energy-efficient as compressed air is no longer required for the sealing process.

Similarly, no cooling water is required for the cooling of the sealing die, said Multivac, since the heat is discharged in a controlled manner. The trays are fed in with the help of a chain infeed.

The machine also increases the number of trays per cycle to increase machine output, said the firm.

"Depending on the infeed mode, it is possible with a T 700 with Smart Sealing technology to achieve more than 20 cycles per minute," said Bernd Jokele from Multivac’s Traysealer division.

“This corresponds in the case of a 5-up die to a machine output of more than 100 packs per minute. In practice we have already produced 120 packs per minute.”

The machine performance with the Smart Sealing concept is therefore twice as high as that of the standard T 700, said the company.

Lower price

Jokele said the Smart Sealing is initially being offered for the single lane T 700 traysealer.

The product is suitable for customers who require just a simple seal without additional modified atmosphere for the tray packing of their products, he said.

The basic machine concept is lower priced as no vacuum pump or gas flushing equipment is included with the Smart Sealing products, said Multivac.

Smart Sealing dies are also a lower cost than the conventional sealing dies which are used to produce MAP packs, claims the firm.

The T 700 includes quality functions, such as hygiene design, simple and intuitive operation, said the supplier.

Since Smart Sealing dies can also be used in standard T 700 models, said Multivac.
