Loma's metal detection technology wins UK award

A metal detector range from Loma Systems won the Technical Development award at the UK’s Food Processing Awards.

The supplier said that the innovative nature of its Variable Frequency function in its range of IQ3 metal detectors was recognised by the UK prize.

Loma said the Variable Frequency function allows automatic detection of contaminants within a wide frequency range (31KHz-882KHz), and that it can be configured to automatically select the correct frequency for numerous food products and packages during calibration, ensuring detection sensitivity remains at a peak regardless of which particular product is being inspected by the unit at any given time.

This greatly reduces the possibility of operator error, which minimises product wastage or recall costs, claims the company.

Loma said it also picked up a finalist award in the innovation category for their CW3 Combination Checkweigher and Metal Detector.
