Advanced packing ops squashes frog-in-can claim - Pepsi

Pepsi has poured cold water on claims that a dead frog was found in one of its cans – because of its super efficient packaging operations.

The soda giant was responding to a report from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the dead animal that Florida consumer Fred Denegri said he found in his sparkling beverage was probably a frog or a toad.

Pepsi spokesman Jeff Dahncke said the speed of the company’s packing line made it virtually impossible for a frog or toad to get into a can. He confirmed the company was aware of the FDA finding but that Pepsi was standing by the robustness of its manufacturing and quality control systems.

Denegri said he was sure the animal was in the can before he opened it.
