The screw cap is equipped with a recently-developed non-leaking feature, says the manufacturer. This is achieved by a specific inner sealing lip which ensures good tightness of the package.
To secure the counterfeiting of the packages contents, the closure contains a Tamper Evident (TE) band.
Also a handle makes the containers comfortable for consumer to carry, claims the company.
Conventional closures
Bericap developed the closure in response to problems in the Turkish pickle and edible oil industry. The use of conventional closures without the TE band was leading to serious leakage from packages, claims the company. Existing closures could not ensure the tightness of the package leading to leaking.
Turkey’s biggest edible oil producer, Kucukbay, and one of the largest producers of pickles Taris Sirke are using the SK 110/37 closure. Also, the closure has been adopted recently by a firm marketing sunflower oil.
Plastic closures
BERICAP says it will expand the supply of SK 110/37 screw tops and is particularly interested in developing innovative plastic closures for its customers.
The company is a leading manufacturer of plastic closures with 20 factories in 18 countries across the world.
Meanwhile, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute the country’s total oil production was estimated at 180,000t in 2004.
Olive production has experienced a two-year cycle with small crops every other year, it says.
